The cooler crisp October air is a welcomed relief to coastal Carolina whether one is enjoying a stroll down Market Street in downtown Charleston, or getting in an afternoon Kayak ride down the Kiawah River through the golden salt marshes of these inter-coastal islands. In addition to the usual lowcountry fun, there is also plenty of Halloween and autumn magic brewing in the area. Freshfield’s Village will be hosting their Sixth Annual Music Celebration from October 7th through October 9th with music consisting of folk, traditional, and blues variety. Fun games, food and beverages will be available right on the Freshfield’s green. Just down the road heading towards Seabrook Island is the Bohicket Marina which will be throwing the Bohicket’s 30th birthday bash with event proceeds benefiting Debi’s kids. The Friday event begins at 6 pm and there will be a $40 admission to attend of which the cost includes 80’s themed party with food, beverages and music from this era. Bohicket Marina will follow up this event the next day with the Halloween Parade and Family Fun festival of which attendees are encouraged to dress up in a costume and enjoy some music, food, games, inflatable jumpies, and crafts.

A ways off the beaten path in Hollywood, South Carolina is St. Paul’s Academy Halloween Extravaganza during the dates of October 8, 15, 21 and 22nd. The venue includes hayrides, haunted house, petting zoo and much more. For more information about this event, please call (843) 889-2702. Moving up the coast to Folly Beach is the Moonlight Mixers Shaggin on the Pier on October 7th from 7 pm to 11 pm. This evening event is held every year at least once a month from spring through fall and has some great music and dancing on the pier under the stars. Take a ride out to the Charleston Harbor on Thursdays and Saturdays in October and get your place in line for the Charleston Ghosts and Pirates Oh My Tour which is aboard the Thriller watercraft. This afternoon boat ride begins at 3 pm and lasts one hour and will include spooky tales. The fee is $35 for adults and $25 for children (ages 3 – 12). For information, call (843) 276-4203.
